DACA is a piggyback on “anchor babies,” and both programs need serious legislative reform (“Trump says he’ll try again on DACA revocation,” Web, June 19).

We should be hearing from black leaders on this matter. This is legislation that was intended to give citizenship to children born of immigrant slaves. The need has obviously become obsolete, and as a result the system is being abused.

A pregnant illegal alien having a baby in 2020 should not have a path to automatic citizenship. We should not have laws that are a get-out-of-jail-free card for illegal activities.

The left will support this abuse because it gives rise to minorities to whom they can pander with government handouts from your tax dollars.

All of the billions in funding for these illegals could have been engineered into legislation to improve inner-city communities, many of them largely minority communities. Black leaders should be furious about how this legislation has been bastardized.

We are a nation of laws. Times change the need and intent of legislation and we should expect representatives to reform the inequities, not support laws’ abuse.
