Congress clears bill to pay fallen troops’ families

Congress approved a bill Thursday that guarantees death benefits for families of service members killed in action during the government shutdown, and President Obama signed it despite the White House having said it already had found a solution and the legislation isn't needed.

Obama’s national debt rate on track to double

Obama stiff-arms GOP over shutdown, default talks

President Obama Tuesday again shot down the prospect of direct talks with congressional Republicans to end the standoff over the partial government shutdown and looming federal debt default, just minutes after GOP House Speaker John A. Boehner on Tuesday called on the president and Senate Democrats to sit down for negotiations as the only way the two sides can reach a deal.

White House confirms Obama ordered African raids

President Obama ordered the weekend raids that captured a top al Qaeda operative in Libya and failed to capture a senior leader of the al-Shabab terrorist network in Somalia, the White House said Monday.

Obama demands quick House vote on shutdown

Obama ‘certainly did not’ facilitate shutdown, White House claims
