Mike Glenn grew up on Navy bases as the son of a career sailor but then decided to annoy his father and joined the Army after he graduated from high school in the Dallas area. He did a hitch as an enlisted soldier in Germany during the Cold War, where he spent a considerable amount of time in the field on maneuvers. After leaving the Army, he moved back home to northeast Texas and entered the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied history. He also took Army ROTC classes at UT Arlington and upon graduation received a commission as a Second Lieutenant. He was assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bliss in El Paso and took his platoon to the Middle East where he fought in the Gulf War. He got into journalism after Operation Desert Storm and has worked at newspapers and magazines throughout Texas. He joined The Washington Times from the Houston Chronicle. Austin seeks ‘international coalition’ to deal with Houthi shipping attacks in Red Sea

Presidents can pull out of NATO only with congressional OK under Pentagon bill

While most of the attention was focused on the $841.4 billion the Pentagon will receive from the fiscal 2024 National Defense Authorization Act, Sen. Marco Rubio, Florida Republican, and Sen. Tim Kaine, Virginia Democrat, inserted a provision that would prevent presidents from unilaterally pulling out of NATO.

Russian commander faces calls for ouster after battlefield failure in Ukraine

The commander of Russia's airborne troops is facing calls for his firing amid evidence that a newly formed division in his command suffered "exceptionally heavy losses" and failed to achieve its objective during its combat debut in Ukraine, according to a Western intelligence assessment.
