Mike Glenn grew up on Navy bases as the son of a career sailor but then decided to annoy his father and joined the Army after he graduated from high school in the Dallas area. He did a hitch as an enlisted soldier in Germany during the Cold War, where he spent a considerable amount of time in the field on maneuvers. After leaving the Army, he moved back home to northeast Texas and entered the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied history. He also took Army ROTC classes at UT Arlington and upon graduation received a commission as a Second Lieutenant. He was assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bliss in El Paso and took his platoon to the Middle East where he fought in the Gulf War. He got into journalism after Operation Desert Storm and has worked at newspapers and magazines throughout Texas. He joined The Washington Times from the Houston Chronicle. Recuperating Austin gets Walter Reed briefing amid furor over unrevealed absence

Questions, furor mount on Pentagon leadership; deputy unaware of Austin illness

The furor over the undisclosed illness and hospitalization of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin showed no signs of subsiding Monday as the White House announced plans for a "hot wash" review of the incident and it was revealed that Mr. Austin's second-in-command wasn't told initially why she was being put in temporary charge at the Pentagon.

Houthis launch sea drone to attack ships hours after U.S., allies issue final warning

A drone boat packed with explosives detonated within "a couple of miles" of U.S. Navy warships and commercial vessels off the coast of Yemen on Thursday, only hours after the White House and several other countries issued a "final warning" to the Iran-backed Houthi rebels to cease attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea or face possible military action.

Israel suspected as drone strike kills senior Hamas officials in Beirut

A senior Hamas official who headed the group's operations in Lebanon and was a key liaison to Iran and Palestinians living in the West Bank was among seven people killed Tuesday when an explosion ripped through a neighborhood in Beirut, according to Lebanon's state-run news agency.

Turkey arrests 33 people accused of spying for Israel

Turkish police apprehended 33 people accused of spying on behalf of Mossad, Israel's foreign intelligence agency, and targeting foreigners living in the country, Turkey's interior minister said Tuesday.
