Mike Glenn grew up on Navy bases as the son of a career sailor but then decided to annoy his father and joined the Army after he graduated from high school in the Dallas area. He did a hitch as an enlisted soldier in Germany during the Cold War, where he spent a considerable amount of time in the field on maneuvers. After leaving the Army, he moved back home to northeast Texas and entered the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied history. He also took Army ROTC classes at UT Arlington and upon graduation received a commission as a Second Lieutenant. He was assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bliss in El Paso and took his platoon to the Middle East where he fought in the Gulf War. He got into journalism after Operation Desert Storm and has worked at newspapers and magazines throughout Texas. He joined The Washington Times from the Houston Chronicle. GAO: U.S. troops living in barracks with mold, backed-up sewage

Government investigators recently found health hazards, including mold, brown tap water and bug infestations inside a number of barracks where single military personnel live. In one case, enlisted troops living in the barracks were told to clean up the biological waste following a suicide in one of the rooms.

Zelenskyy purges more officials as fighting rages in east

NATO’s senior officer to remain on the job for another six months

NATO defense chiefs, including Joint Chiefs Chairman Army Gen. Mark A. Milley, met over the weekend in Norway, where they agreed that Royal Netherlands Navy Adm. Rob Bauer will extend for six months his tenure as NATO's Military Committee chair, the senior officer in the North Atlantic alliance.
