Mike Glenn grew up on Navy bases as the son of a career sailor but then decided to annoy his father and joined the Army after he graduated from high school in the Dallas area. He did a hitch as an enlisted soldier in Germany during the Cold War, where he spent a considerable amount of time in the field on maneuvers. After leaving the Army, he moved back home to northeast Texas and entered the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied history. He also took Army ROTC classes at UT Arlington and upon graduation received a commission as a Second Lieutenant. He was assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bliss in El Paso and took his platoon to the Middle East where he fought in the Gulf War. He got into journalism after Operation Desert Storm and has worked at newspapers and magazines throughout Texas. He joined The Washington Times from the Houston Chronicle. Blinken cautions Israel against strike on Gaza civilians; shaken by images of atrocities

Ex-Hamas leader calls for worldwide protests to back Palestinians

A former leader of Hamas called on global Muslims to join the fight against Israel and stage protests in support of the Palestinian cause five days after terrorists stormed the barricade around Gaza and slaughtered more than 1,000 Israeli civilians.

Blinken assures Israel of support, says civilians must be protected

The U.S. will stand beside Israel as it battles Hamas terrorists whose "litany of brutality and inhumanity" calls to mind the savagery of ISIS, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Thursday following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Ground war in Gaza holds huge risks, deep uncertainties for both sides

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly told President Biden that his armed forces have no choice but to launch a ground operation in the Palestinian enclave of Gaza, given the destruction following this weekend's deadly attacks on Israel by Hamas militants based there.
