This image provided Tuesday, March 5, 2019, shows a painting "Santa Caterina d'Alessandria", by Italian 17th century artist Artemisia Gentileschi, in Florence, Italy. The Uffizi Galleries say an X-ray exam of a portrait by Artemisia Gentileschi have discovered a hidden painting by the Baroque master. Examination done by a Florence restoration laboratory revealed another portrait, depicting St. Catherine of Alexandria, that is “virtually identical” to a painting recently acquired by London’s National Gallery. The Uffizi says the discovery bolsters contentions that Gentileschi, one of history’s most famous female painters, modeled female figures on her own image. (Opificio delle Pietre Dure via AP)
