July 19, 2008 — the 147th Commemoration of the Battle of First Manassas will be held under the oaks at Manassas Battlefield beginning at 10:00 a.m., sponsored by the Virginia Division, United Daughters of the Conffederacy.  This commemoration has been held for many years at this site, and is usually well attended by civil war fans as well as passing by tourists.

Your mayor will be the guest speaker, and will talk about “Disparate Officers.”

Sept. 1, 2008  —- 9:00 a.m. — the Dedication of the newly renovated Ox Hill Battefeld by the Fairfax County Park Authority will be held  out at the battlefield site at the interesection of Ox Road and Route 50.  The Park Authority was instrumental in helping preserve some 5 acres of the only major battle in Fairfax County and the long awaited work on the battlefield will be formally dedicated that day.
