With the tremendous loss of lives in the Battle — the Union lost  two generals, saw two wounded and two captured, as well as serious losses by the Confederates — a singular irony existed.   During the battle, Gen. James Longstreet was accidentally shot by his own troops, at almost the identical spot where Gen. Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson was fatally wounded a year before.
