Navy linebacker Keegan Wetzel was named the defensive player of the week among major-college independents after rolling up 11 tackles (1.5 for loss) and a sack in Saturday’s 17-13 defeat of Army.
The weekly awards combined the regular-season finales for Brigham Young and Notre Dame (from Nov. 24) and Saturday’s Army-Navy game.
Wetzel is the third Midshipman to be named the defensive player of the week this season, joining linebacker Matt Warrick (for his performance against Air Force) and cornerback Kwazel Bertrand (for his outing against Texas State):
