Vice President Joseph R. Biden’s wife, Jill, didn’t rule out Tuesday that he might run for the presidency in 2016.
Asked on NBC’s “Today” show whether this year would be Mr. Biden’s last campaign, Mrs. Biden replied: “I don’t know. Joe would make a great president. One campaign at a time.”
She said she thought Mr. Biden would have made a great president in 2008, when he pledged in the Democratic primary to get the U.S. out of the war in Iraq. But she noted that President Obama followed through on that goal.
Asked if Mr. Biden had patched things up with the president after prompting Mr. Obama into a declaration of support for gay marriage last month, Mrs. Biden said: “They worked this out. It’s fine.”
She said her husband “speaks from the heart, and that’s what I love about him.”
