A leading physicians’ nonprofit is taking aim at President Obama’s penchant for hot dogs, burgers and other junk foods.

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine will file a petition on Thursday asking the White House to issue an executive order banning the president, vice president, cabinet members and even Mr. Obama’s children from “staged photo opportunities” involving unhealthy eats.

“The White House would never set up a photo op showing the president buying cigarettes, so why is it OK to show him eating a hot dog?” asked committee Nutrition Education Director Dr. Susan Levin. “The president has a responsibility to watch what he eats in public.”

Former presidents share the blame when it comes to promoting bad diets, the committee said.

They also chided Bill Clinton for his love of McDonald’s, George W. Bush for chowing down on ice cream and even Franklin Delano Roosevelt for consuming hot dogs during his time in the Oval Office seven decades ago.
