Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton was the talk of young Indonesians Thursday who tuned in to one of the most popular TV show in the country to see her lighter side.

On the music talk show “Awesome,” which she described to U.S. reporters traveling with her as a cross between NBC’s “Today” show and many MTV programs, she revealed that her favorite singers are the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.

“Here is the problem,” she said to the studio audience. “See all of these people? If I start to sing, they will leave.”

Both the audience and the hosts were visibly starstruck by Mrs. Clinton’s presence, taking pictures with her off the air.

She has elicited similar reactions everywhere she has gone during her Asian tour this week. During a town hall meeting with students at the University of Tokyo on Tuesday, one questioner could hardly speak, breathing heavily from the excitement of meeting Mrs. Clinton.
