Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, fresh from posting bond for his arrest on corruption charges, is ignoring calls to resign from President-elect Barack Obama, Democrats in the U.S. Senate and the Chicago Tribune, the AP is reporting.

Is this the “change” we can believe in?

The situation is more than a little embarrassing for the Democrats, who swept Republicans out of leadership in Congress in part because of the GOP’s corruption problems. Diogenes would be committed to a mental health facility in Washington.

There’s speculation that Blagojevich will go ahead and appoint someone to fill the Senate seat vacated by Obama — the same seat the governor is accused of trying to sell (perhaps on Craigslist?).

Would anyone want to be the person appointed by Blagojevich now? How would you explain it to your constituency, your colleagues, your spiritual leader? It’s an offer you gotta refuse.
