Republicans are criticizing Democrats over their ethical scandals just two years after the Democrats took control of Congress amid a host of Republican scandals, Donald Lambro is reporting.

They say that we get the government we deserve — but sometimes we don’t.

There are shady characters in all walks of life, so no one should expect to have a scandal-free government. But it would be nice to have a “scandal-light” government. You know, a government that goes easy on the scandal, as if it were on a diet — a diet of ethics, let’s say.

It’s a little boring that our scandals come in only two varieties: sex and ethics. If there’s a scandal brewing, it’s because somebody slipped or was unzipped. What would a religious scandal look like? Someone claims to be an Episcopalian but is secretly a Presbyterian? Interesting — and different.
