Presidential candidates made 110 appearances on late-night comedy shows in 2008, more than four times the number of appearances candidates made in 2004, the AP is reporting.

You might think it was an accident that the presidential candidates used comedy shows to get their messages out. But that’s where they belonged.


I suppose it says something about our times when the candidates for the highest office in the land must make their cases on late-night comedy shows. Who knew that government could be so funny?

You’ve got to hand it to the candidates who appeared on those comedy shows. It must be challenging to draw laughter by stating your fiscal policy. Then again …
