The New York Daily News is claiming that it “stole” the Empire State Building in 90 minutes by creating a series of false documents.

Why the Empire State Building? Was the Brooklyn Bridge already taken?

The Daily News kinda showed its hand in the bogus paperwork it filed with city officials, having listed Fay Wray (remember the original “King Kong”?) as a witness and having the documents notarized by bank robber Willie Sutton.

Since it’s December, is this an early or a late April Fools’ Day joke? The Daily News had better give the building back soon, or else someone in the city government is going to be really, really, really in trouble.
