President-elect Barack Obama nominated New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson to be his Commerce Department secretary, Richard Gross is reporting.

Richardson’s first order of business was to shave his mustache and beard. Thank goodness! He was looking kinda cheesy and sleazy with a van dyke on his face.

This appointment just adds to Richardson’s already impressive resume: congressman, governor, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, secretary of the Energy Department, chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, chairman of the Democratic National Convention.

Gosh, is there anything Richardson can’t do? Oh, yeah — president of the United States.
