Ford has announced that one option for the 2010 Lincoln MKS sedan will be technology that allows the car to parallel park itself with just the touch of a button, the AP is reporting.

I don’t think I like the sound of this.

Parallel parking traditionally has been hardest part of the driving test.  It’s a rite of passage.  It’s a feeling of accomplishment.  Don’t take that away from new drivers.  Those kids need the challenge.

First the cars warn you when there’s something behind you when you’re backing up.  Then the cars parallel park themselves.  Next thing you know the cars will drive themselves and we’ll be their passive passengers.  Our cars will become smarter than we are.  And you know what comes after that?  “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.”
