General Motors Corp. has published a new ad in which the biggest of the Big Three automakers apologizes for how it “disappointed” and sometimes “betrayed” U.S. car buyers, Reuters is reporting.

The new print ad is thought to be an attempt by GM to set a more conciliatory tone as it pursues a federal bailout.

Hey, sorry about all the gas-guzzling, overpriced, badly manufactured, oversized, poorly appointed, road-hogging cars and trucks we’ve sold to you for quite a while. Now give us some bailout money — or we might have to keep selling you those automobiles.
