The lobbying campaign in New York to replace Hillary Clinton in the U.S. Senate is pitting the Kennedys against the Cuomos, the New York Daily News is reporting.

Sen. Ted Kennedy is lobbying to get his niece Caroline appointed to the seat, while New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, son of former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo, is angling for the job.

The Kennedys and Cuomos used to be linked by marriage, until Andrew Cuomo divorced Kerry Kennedy in 2003 — a nasty divorce at that.

This rivalry is beginning to sound like a modern version of the Hatfields and McCoys. Just hope it doesn’t become the Medicis.
