Officials in Pinellas County, Fla., are seeking a ban on buttock-exposing swimwear at beaches in an effort to protect region’s image as a family destination, the St. Petersburg Times is reporting.

Thongs, G-strings and other types of minimal coverings would be prohibited on beaches in the Tampa Bay area. Local nudists say such a ban would like drive tourists away from the area.

County leaders want only one moon to shine over Tampa Bay.

Lots of people complain about getting sand in their swimwear at the beach, but that doesn’t happen with thongs. There’s no room for sand.

First they’ll ban thongs at the beach, next thing you know they’ll say you can’t walk your alligator on a leash at the beach. Where will it stop?

You know, a story like this practically screams for a series of butt jokes; however, I refuse to take that bait.  And that’s my bottom line.
