Sources close to New York Gov. David Paterson say he is will likely appoint Caroline Kennedy to fill the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Hillary Rodham Clinton, CBS News in New York is reporting.

Well, good for her.  This is encouraging news for every verbally challenged, nonvoting, politically active, Ivy League-educated, New York attorney whose father was a U.S. president.

At least this Senate appointment doesn’t carry the baggage of Blagojevich.  It’s got its own baggage.
