Toyota is secretly developing a mass-market, solar-powered car, Hybrid Cars News is reporting.

The car will hold solar cells in its roof that initially will supply enough energy to power its accessories, such as the radio and cigarette lighter. A fully solar-powered car is thought to be years away.


Toyota has encountered some unexpected problems in developing its solar-powered car, the foremost of which is — night.

This really changes the meaning of the term “sun roof.” I just hope that “moon roof” never refers to exposing the backside, because I cannot drive a car like that.
