Caroline Kennedy has decided after all to withdraw herself from consideration for an appointment to the U.S. Senate, WCBSTV.com is reporting.
An “unanticipated” personal matter prompted Kennedy’s decision to withraw, a person close to Caroline told the network.

The person said Caroline Kennedy did not withdraw because her uncle, Sen. Ted Kennedy, recently had suffered a seizure.
Well, that’s that, then. I’m glad it’s finally over. Oh, wait! New York Gov. David Paterson still has to appoint somebody!
A lot of hubbub over Caroline Kennedy’s bid was about her “qualifications” for the job, with many critics saying that the appointee should be a New Yorker who has been more intensely involved in Democratic campaigns and politics. So I’m guessing that Donald Trump is out too. They don’t want an “Apprentice” in the Senate.
It’s a safe bet that Eliot Spitzer’s name isn’t on the governor’s list. Spitzer’s name probably isn’t anywhere in the governor’s office. Yep.
