New York Gov. is expected to announce that he will appoint Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Hillary Clinton, the New York Times is reporting.
Known as a centrist, Gillibrand represents the Albany area and has upset some Democratic liberals because she opposes gun control.

Caroline Kennedy was Paterson’s first choice, but she dropped out at the last minute. Well, if you can’t have a Kennedy, you might as well get someone who already knows her way around Washington, I guess.
After all the hubbub over Caroline Kennedy and New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo being considered for the appointment, you can’t really blame people for saying, “Who? Gillibrand?”
