The NBA draft is less than two hours away and a handfull of trades have gone down, and the Wizards would like to pull one or two off of their own.

I’m hearing that Wizards general manager Ernie Grunfeld has been trying “feverishly” to trade the 18th pick of the draft, which isn’t much of a surprise. When talking about draft strategy on Tuesday, Grunfeld said the Wizards had been in conversation with teams about trading up, down or completely out of the draft. With the Wizards already having four young, still-developing players, Grunfeld would rather pick up a veteran instead of taking on another project.

Word was earlier today that the Wizards had been in talks with Detroit to trade the pick. That fell through and the latest buzz is that the Wizards are in talks to swap the 18th pick for Houston’s No. 25 pick and a player.

Stay tuned ….
