It’s official. The world has run out of competitive events to televise.

Fox Sports Net has announced that it will air the third annual USA Rock Paper Scissors League Championship Tournament, as part of a special tied to the Best Damn Sports Show Period. The contest will take place June 20-22 and air on FSN on Oct. 6.

Gotta love this quote from FSN spokesman Justin Simon: ““Rock Paper Scissors is a fun, irreverent tournament that fits in nicely under the Best Damn Sports Show Period banner. We’re pleased to have all the blood, sweat and tears the RPS championship delivers back on FSN.”

Blood? Sweat? Tears? I hope he realizes we’re not talking about actual rocks, paper and scissors.

The press release also contains this sentence: “More than 300 RPS Athletes representing all corners of America will descend on Las Vegas the weekend of June 20-22 in the hopes of roshamboing their way to the 50,000 dollar grand prize.”

I’m not sure what’s more amazing, the fact that they refer to the contestants as athletes, or that they actually used the word “roshamboing” in an official press release. (Though I would have been more impressed if they used the alternative “roshambeau” spelling. And yes, I did have to look that up.)

One would hope that the competition is a little stiffer than what we see here:
