It’s a big weekend for the D.C. Sports and Entertainment Commission as it hosts the first “Congressional Bank Baseball Classic” Saturday at Nationals Park.

The event will include the semifinals and finals of the city’s high school baseball tournament, plus an all-star game. In all, there will be more than 12 hours of baseball played.

The schedule:

9:30am: Maret vs. St. Albans Semi-Final Game 1
12:30pm: Wilson vs. McKinley Tech Semi-Final Game 2
3:30pm   All-Star Game
7:00pm   Championship Game

All games will air on ComcastSportsNet.

The game is being viewed as a big deal for the commission as it seeks to ramp up the number of events it hosts at Nationals Park, RFK Stadium and the D.C. Armory.

Tonight, RFK Stadium will host an international friendly soccer match between Guatemala and El Salvador, with more than 30,000 fans expected to attend. In March, Guatemala beat Anguila in the second round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying at RFK Stadium.

Earlier this month, the commission announced that RFK plans to host a seminfinal round qualfier between the U.S. and either Cuba or Antigua and Barbuda on Oct. 11. The U.S. must first get through a home-and-home series against Barbados.

Down the road, the commission hopes to renovate the D.C. Armory to lure more events and has already received some interest from 9:30 Club owner Seth Hurwitz about the possibility of holding concerts there.
