When one thinks about efforts to alleviate severe water shortages, one tends to think of the Middle East or Australia, or California and Texas. But what about the U.S. East Coast? Below is a link to an Associated Press article printed in the Augusta Chronicle, which describes efforts to plan ahead to prepare for a possible (likely?) water shortage for the coastal cities of South Carolina and Georgia in the coming years. One of the fascinating things that this article mentions is the possibility of using desalination to help people get the water that they will need.
