Is there a life after this one? There certainly is a large number of people who claim to have had wonderful experiences in which a passed-on loved one or friend was able to convey their presence and love. A logical approach might be to say that the tellers of such stories are (a) lying, (b) sincere but prone to hallucinations, or (c) honest and rational people who were blessed with a genuine experience, in which a window briefly opened for them between this life and the next.
