A middle-aged couple was in for a big surprise when they found out the cruise they booked for themselves turned out to be Italy’s first gay cruise last month. However, the astonished husband and wife are heterosexual.  USA Today reports:

News outlets in Europe this week are all atwitter over the story of the Italian couple, who now are suing the cruise line after reportedly being flummoxed by the experience.

The UK’s Daily Mail today reports the middle-aged husband and wife, who have not been named, said they booked the trip directly with the line and claim they were never told of the gay theme.

The Daily Mail goes further and reports the couple did not realize it was a gay cruise until arriving at port.:

The couple, from Terni near Perugia, had booked the cruise last month from with Grimaldi Lines from Civitavecchia to the Spanish city of Barcelona.

They had booked the holiday using loyalty points from a supermarket.

Buit when they arrived at the port, they found the ship surrounded by TV crews covering the ‘Revuelta gay cruise’ - Italy’s first all homosexual cruise.

Lost in translation maybe?
