A vintage military airplane crashed and exploded Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, at the Anoka County Airport in Blaine, Minn. Blaine Police Chief Brian Podany told reporters the pilot suffered serious injuries but is expected to recover. He was taken to a hospital. The pilot's name was not immediately released, but Podany says he's a 65-year-old from Ham Lake with more than 20 years of experience. (David Joles /Star Tribune via AP)

Hegseth joins veterans, generals to mark 80th anniversary of battle of Iwo Jima
A handful of retired Marines – all in the late 90s or over 100 — joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Japan’s Prime Minister Takeru Ishida on Saturday to mark the anniversary of one of the bloodiest battles of World War II in the Pacific that ended 80 years ago this week.
