Capitals still searching for answers in Penguins series

Heading into the second round of the playoffs against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Capitals coach Barry Trotz predicted Washington was over any postseason jitters the team might have felt while struggling to put away the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Penguins star Sidney Crosby scored two goals in 52 seconds to start the second period, pacing the Penguins to a 3-2 win over the Capitals in Game 1 of the best of seven series.

Karl Alzner to miss Game 1 against Penguins

Karl Alzner is still "day-to-day and progressing" despite having missed the last four games. Alzner is out in Game 1 Thursday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Capitals will measure focus, growth against Penguins
