Mike Glenn grew up on Navy bases as the son of a career sailor but then decided to annoy his father and joined the Army after he graduated from high school in the Dallas area. He did a hitch as an enlisted soldier in Germany during the Cold War, where he spent a considerable amount of time in the field on maneuvers. After leaving the Army, he moved back home to northeast Texas and entered the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied history. He also took Army ROTC classes at UT Arlington and upon graduation received a commission as a Second Lieutenant. He was assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment at Fort Bliss in El Paso and took his platoon to the Middle East where he fought in the Gulf War. He got into journalism after Operation Desert Storm and has worked at newspapers and magazines throughout Texas. He joined The Washington Times from the Houston Chronicle. Russian military jets tracked in U.S. air defense zone near Alaska

Combat fighter jets assigned to the U.S.-Canadian North American Aerospace Defense Command intercepted four Russian military aircraft this week that were approaching the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone. It was the second such incident in as many days, NORAD officials said.

Zelenskyy’s surprise London trip brings pledge of pilot training against Russia

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak marked President Volodomyr Zelenskyy's surprise visit to Britain on Wednesday with a pledge that the UK would soon begin training Ukrainian pilots to fly NATO-standard jet fighters. The announcement was the clearest sign yet that Britain and its NATO allies are seriously considering supplying the combat aircraft that Kyiv has long lobbied for in its battle to repel invading Russian forces.

North Korea holds parade to mark anniversary of military

Pyongyang staged a highly choreographed military parade Wednesday to mark the 75th anniversary of its military, but it wasn't clear whether North Korean leader Kim Jong-un attended, according to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency.
