Border crisis improving, migrants in detention cut in half

The situation along the Mexican border has improved dramatically, with the total number of immigrants in detention cut nearly in half and with children now turned over to federal health officials within a day or two, Border Patrol Chief Carla Provost told Congress on Wednesday.

Senators suggest bipartisan border solution to speed deportations

A bipartisan group of senators offered a new solution to the border crisis Thursday that could clear the way for approvals for those with legitimate asylum cases, while speeding deportations for the vast majority of illegal immigrant families who don't have real claims.
