ADVANCE FOR SATURDAY, AUG. 26 AND THEREAFTER - David Johnston, grandfather of Levi Staver, poses for a portrait Thursday Aug. 17, 2017, at his home in Richland, Pa. Levi was charged with criminal homicide, and nearly four years after he killed his grandmother, he pleaded guilty but mentally ill to third-degree murder. In June, despite argument that Levi's schizophrenia had been stabilized in jail, as well as during an eight-month stay at Torrance State Hospital and expert reports suggesting he would be better served by obtaining mental health treatment in the community, he was ordered to serve 10 to 20 years in prison.
