GREENSBORO, Ga. —- Anyone who has heard of Occam’s razor knows that the simplest explanation is usually best.
So when I leafed through Maryland’s media guide this morning and saw neither wideout Stephen Smalls and linebacker Brian Whitmore on the roster, it was logical to assume they were no longer in the program.

And indeed, they aren’t.
A Maryland spokesman confirmed both players are transferring out of the program. I’ll get more from Ralph when he meets with the media tomorrow, but neither of those guys made it onto the field in two years with the program. In fact, Whitmore didn’t make any road trips last year, while Smalls traveled only to Florida International.
I’ll have more on this later (notably Maryland’s scholarship situation), but interviews are underway and it’s time to get over and talk to players from the Coastal Division.
