Maryland guard Pe’Shon Howard had nine rebounds and five assists in Saturday’s 75-63 victory over Samford.
The rebounding total was the most by a Maryland guard since Sean Mosley had 13 against Wake Forest in January 2010.

Howard also became the 13th different Terrapin guard since 1998-99 to lead the team in assists and rebounds in the same game.
Unsurprisingly, Greivis Vasquez had the most such games in that stretch —- 18, three times as many as anyone else.
A few interesting tidbits from the research:
* Of the 45 times a Maryland guard has led or shared the team lead in rebounds or assists since 1998-99, 10 of them have come against Duke (including two guys sharing the lead in both categories in Maryland’s blowout loss in Durham in 2009).
* It’s happened twice in the ACC tournament in that span, but not once in the NCAA tournament.
* In addition to the ugly ‘09 loss at Duke, the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in 2001 and a pummeling against North Carolina in 2005 are on the list. So is Maryland’s home rout of North Carolina in 2002 (aka The Year Carolina Was Bad).
* Naturally, Vasquez’s triple-double (2009 vs. North Carolina) is on the list as well.
