Old Dominion announced it will face Maryland in football on Sept. 7, 2013. The game will be played in College Park.

It will be the first meeting between the schools. Old Dominion revived its football program in 2009 after a 69-year hiatus.

The Monarchs begin a transition to the bowl subdivision next year and will play a schedule that includes both major-college and lower-division programs. Old Dominion will also play North Carolina next season.

This locks in the dates for three of Maryland’s nonconference games next season:

Sept. 7: Old Dominion
Sept. 14: at Connecticut
Sept. 21: vs. West Virginia in Baltimore
