Maryland is making a change at kicker —- sort of.

Freshman walk-on Brendan Magistro will handle field goals inside of 35-to-40 yards, coach Randy Edsall said Sunday. Freshman Brad Craddock will be used for longer attempts.

Craddock is 8-for-14 on field goal attempts this season. He missed a 33-yarder at the end of a 20-18 loss to N.C. State on Oct. 20, then missed a 35-yard try Saturday at Boston College.

“With Brad, we just have to get technique down,” Edsall said.

Magistro made his debut Saturday, connecting on a 28-yarder and making both of his extra points after Edsall made a mid-game change.

With Magistro playing for the first time, Maryland has used 14 true freshmen this season.
