GOP Rep. Roy Blunt now has a double-digit lead over Democratic candidate Robin Carnahan in Missouri’s U.S. Senate race, according to a Rasmussen Reports survey released Tuesday.
The survey of likely voters found 51 percent for Mr. Blunt, compared to 40 percent for Mrs. Carnahan, Missouri’s secretary of state.
Mr. Blunt has led in most polls since the start of the election cycle and increased his lead slightly from an Aug. 12 Rasmussen survey that found him ahead 50 percent to 43 percent. He led 47 percent to 41 percent in May.
The race is for the open seat of Republican Sen. Christopher S. “Kit” Bond, who is not seeking re-election.
Rasmussen and the Real Clear Politics website have put the race in their “leaning GOP” category, while the non-partisan Cook Political Report lists it as a toss up.
