TAMPA, Fla. — Republican National Convention delegates were still buzzing Wednesday about Ann Romney’s prime-time speech the previous evening, who spoke on behalf of husband Mitt who that day officially was named the GOP’s presidential candidate.

Women delegates particularly said they were impressed with what they described as a passionate and personal account of her 43-year marriage with Mitt, saying it did much to highlight the multimillionaire’s humble upbringings as his religious faith and strong family ties.

“I am so impressed by her. What a rock she is to him,” said Kathy Kiernan, a delegate from Richfield, Wis. “I’m just really impressed by their family values, how they live their lives.”

Mrs. Romney amped up her status with female delegates by speaking at a Wednesday morning breakfast at a downtown Tampa hotel attended by hundreds — the vast majority were women. Her five daughters-in-law also were in attendance and gave a tribute to their family, which Ms. Kiernan said further humanized the candidate.

“We were passing out tissues,” Ms. Kiernan said. “It was very inspiring.”
