Democrats are having fun rehashing some of the stinging criticism Rick Santorum’s leveled at Mitt Romney in the GOP nomination race, just hours before the former rivals are scheduled to try to bury the hatchet during a private meeting in Pittsburgh.

The Democratic National Committee released a new web video Friday that calls Mr. Santorum “the best surrogate ever” for Mr. Romney and replays some of the former Pennsylvania senator’s more memorable digs from the primary fight.

“If Mitt Romney’s an economic heavyweight, we’re in trouble, because he was 47th out of 50th in job creation in the state of Massachusetts when he was governor,” Mr. Santorum says repeatedly in the ad ‘s footage, which is taken from various interviews.

Mr. Santorum also struck a populist message, questioning why Mr. Romney would support the 2008 Wall Street bailout, but then did not throw his political muscle behind U.S. car manufacturers — and why he focused so much of his attention on cutting taxes for the wealthy.

The Democratic spot, which can be viewed at, closes with: “Rick, we couldn’t agree more.”
