Bob Barker, the former host of “The Price is Right,” is lending his star power to Republican David Jolly, who is running for Congress in a special election in Florida.

“Folks, when you get to be as young as I am, you call it like you see it,” Mr. Barker, who turned 90 years old Thursday, says in the 30-second spot. “That’s why I’m supporting David Jolly for Congress.”

Mr. Jolly worked as an aide for longtime Rep. Bill Young, who died in October, and is running against state Sen. Kathleen Peters and retired brigadier general Mark Bircher in a primary next month. The winner will face Democrat Alex Sink in an election in March.

Mr. Barker cites his “good friend Bill Young” in the spot and Mr. Jolly’s efforts to help wounded veterans and protect seniors and children.

“Because with Jolly, the choice is right,” Mr. Barker concludes.

In addition to hosting the show for 30 years before leaving in 2007, Mr. Barker is also known for his work with animals, as well as infamously beating up Adam Sandler’s eponymous character in the 1996 film “Happy Gilmore.”

The ad will first run Thursday during the show, according to a local Florida CBS affiliate.
