A conservative group released television ads Monday attacking Sen. Mary Landrieu for supporting President Obama’s judicial nominees.
In the 30-second spot, the Judicial Crises Network (JCN) dings Mrs. Landrieu, one of the most vulnerable Democrats heading into the 2014 election, for voting “for every one of Obama’s liberal activist judges.”
“Every single one,” the narrator says in the ad. “Even the liberal justices that rubber-stamped Obamacare and voted against your Second Amendment right of armed self defense.”
The JCN ad also hits Mrs. Landrieu for backing Mr. Obama’s nominees to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. “Tell Mary Landrieu to go to work for Louisiana, not Obama,” the narrator says.
The fight over judicial nominees flared up before Congress left town for the Thanksgiving break when Senate Democrats triggered the “nuclear option” to undercut the chamber’s filibuster rules and clear the way for Mr. Obama to stack the federal judiciary with ideological allies.
Republicans must pick up six seats in 2014 to capture control of the Senate, and by most accounts, they will need to win Mrs. Landrieu’s seat to get there.
Rep. Bill Cassidy and retired Air Force Col. Rob Maness have announced they are seeking the GOP nomination in the race.
