Sen. Tim Kaine, Virginia Democrat, says his New Year’s Resolution for 2014 is to improve an area of what he called his own “dismal performance” in 2013: baseball trivia.
“About twice a week, Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio and me trade baseball trivia,” Mr. Kaine told The Washington Post’s PostTV. “And in 2013, basically, if I would give him a question, three out of four times he would answer it right. If he would give me a question, only one out of four times would I answer it right.”
“Nobody in baseball wants to be a .250 hitter,” Mr. Kaine added. “I understand he has an encyclopedia in his office that he reads every day and he quizzes his staff, and I’m just doing it out of, you know, natural intelligence.
Said Mr. Brown, also a Democrat: “It’s always fun to beat Tim Kaine in anything. … I’m still not going to let him win next year.”
