Sen. Marco Rubio is going to bat for Rep. Tom Cotton in Arkansas, where the freshman House member is trying to oust Sen. Mark L. Pryor in one of the most watched races of the the 2014 election season.

The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday that Mr. Rubio’s political action committee planned to sink about $200,000 into a television ad for Mr. Cotton.

Mr. Rubio’s aides told The Journal that the Florida lawmaker and potential 2016 presidential candidate plans to throw his muscle behind a number of Republicans running for the Senate — but he plans to stay out of primary battles.

“The guiding principle of this PAC is to find four or five conservative Senate candidates and to aggressively support them in their races,” Terry Sullivan, direct of Mr. Rubio’s Reclaim America PAC, told The Journal. “Tom Cotton is the first of them.”

Mr. Pryor is arguably the most vulnerable Democrat heading into the election.
