According to Rasmussen’s  daily presidential poll, President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney are tracking closing to one another, but Mr. Romney has a slight four point lead at the moment. “In a hypothetical Election 2012 matchup, Mitt Romney earns 48% of the vote, while President Obama attracts 44%. That’s Romney’s biggest advantage in over a month.”

Rasmussen reports that little has changed between 2008 and 2012 as far as the gender gap is concerned. Romney leads by six points among men while Obama leads by six points among women for the week ending on April 8. In 2008, exit polls showed that Obama beat Senator John McCain by 13 points among women and by one point among men.

Considering this poll was taken before Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen made her controversial remarks about Mr. Romney’s wife Ann, the numbers may very well change in upcoming polls. In fact, although Rosen apologized for saying that Mrs. Romney, a stay at home mother, “never worked a day in her life,” the president of the National Organization of Women attacked Governor Romney’s wife (h/t Newsbusters):

What would we be saying if Hillary Clinton [sic] had said this: that Ann Romney has never, has not worked for pay outside the home a day in her life?  That’s my understanding that’s an accurate statement, and that raises the exact issue that Hilary Rosen was trying to get to, which is do Mr. & Mrs. Romney have the kind of life experience and if not, the imagination, to really understand what most American families are going through right now? I think that that was what Hilary was getting out, and so she left out the words “for pay outside the home.”

Apparently, Mrs. Romney has proven to be an effective weapon in the Romney campaign arsenal and could very well help Mr. Romney with what is looking to be a rough presidential campaign. It is no wonder, his feminist allies are attack her, while he and Vice President Biden try to distance themselves from the nastiness of it all.
