My biggest Christmas toy memory was Space 1999. I remember sliding down the stairs in my footy pajamas, feet first, and being blown away at the brightly colored wrapping paper around the Christmas tree. I remember tearing open the package to find the Eagle Transporter. And I remember how the Christmas train set around the tree soon turned into the Eagle Transporters launch pad.

36 years later, one would think that not much has changed. In my office, I am surrounded by the icons of my childhood, not to mention my father’s icons. As a matter of fact, there are times when I realize the tremendous amount of icons that inhabit my environment, and the gravity of it makes me feel like I should be wearing those footy pajamas again.
Not only that, but I realize the responsibility that I, as well as the rest of my associates at Sideshow, have. It is our responsibility to bring the icons of the past, back to life. It is our responsibility to celebrate the icons of today the best that we can. It is our responsibility to make all those who view or purchase these iconic representations, remember what it was like to wear footy pajamas, slide down the stairs, and find a world of fantasy beneath the Christmas tree.
And we aspire to cause this effect every time one of our boxes is opened. It’s a dubious task, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. So, open your box, embrace your icon, let the world melt away, and be a kid again. It’s what collecting is all about.
